Adam Sandler, Rob Schneider and Kevin James: Torino Gifts Sandler the No. 23 Jersey

These days, in the city of Turin, during the filming of the third installment of the comedy saga Un weekend da bamboccioni (known in English as Grown Ups 3), the actors Adam Sandler, Rob Schneider, and Kevin James publicly backed the Torino FC team, with the club documenting the moment on its official Instagram account. Adam Sandler also had the privilege of receiving a personalized Sandler 23 jersey (a nod to Michael Jordan, as the actor is a big NBA fan) and a maroon tracksuit, as shown in the video below.

The bulk of the comments under the posts form a chorus: “Adam, buy the Toro”. It’s no secret that there’s an open rift between the fans and the club’s president, Urbano Cairo, who has signaled his intention to sell the team. A few weeks ago Cairo stated: “I am willing to sell. I am always ready to cede Toro; I hope someone will come forward. I would like to see a Turin-based, wealthy, Toro-supporting, generous entrepreneur. Then I would hand it over to others; okay even to someone not from Turin or an American. But up to today I haven’t received any offers.”

Grown Ups 3: Turin Becomes Paris for the Film

Grown Ups 3, produced by Netflix and directed by Kyle Newacheck (the filmmaker behind Murder Mystery), reunites Sandler with many of the saga’s longtime stars, including Chris Rock, Kevin James, David Spade, Rob Schneider, Salma Hayek, Maya Rudolph, Maria Bello, and Steve Buscemi. The Turin shoot began on September 29 and involved some of the city center’s most recognizable locations, such as Via Roma, Piazza San Carlo, Via Principe Amedeo and Via Eleonora Duse. The peculiarity is that Turin will not be shown as itself on screen. French storefronts and set decoration transformed the city center into Paris, with Piazza San Carlo used to recreate Place Vendôme and other scenic details reminiscent of the French capital.

Turin is just one stop in the film’s extensive Italian production. The shoot calls for six days of filming between Turin and the surrounding province, after a stint in Valle d’Aosta where scenes were shot in Courmayeur and the surrounding area, including the Skyway Monte Bianco area. A much larger portion of the production, however, is planned for Sardinia, around Olbia, Cala Moresca and Portisco, where a second unit also operates.

Below is the video shared by the Torino FC Instagram profile.
