On August 18, the sixth installment hit theaters, a true sequel, of one of the most lucrative horror sagas for Blumhouse and (recently) Atomic Monster. We’re talking, of course, about Insidious – Out of the Beyond, which to date has grossed $60 million worldwide, of which $25 million came from the U.S., against a budget of $18 million. We don’t know if the film will match the success of its predecessors, but Jason Blum and James Wan have meanwhile reaffirmed their trust in director Jacob Chase by entrusting him with another horror, Sleepover.
Sleepover: Another Nightmare for Jacob Chase
Sleepover, as you may know, is the English term for spending the night at a friend’s house—the classic sleepover party you have as children and teenagers. This new Blumhouse project already has an official release date set for October 8, 2027. The screenplay has been written by Chase himself along with Bryce McGuire, author of Night Swim, based on a story written by the latter. At the moment, no further details about the film’s plot are known, but it will probably involve the reckless use of some objects with arcane powers capable of turning a night of fun into a nightmare. This, of course, is just our speculation, and we await further news. In the meantime, if you haven’t yet seen Insidious – Out of the Beyond, you can catch it in theaters for the last thrills of this sweltering summer.
