Ali G. Who IZ I? Borat Unveils the 2nd Trailer for Sacha Baron Cohen’s Film and Two New Characters

Seeing the images of Ali G. Who Iz I? – which, incidentally, also marks the directing debut of that great and multifaceted talent Sacha Baron Cohen – if you didn’t literally fall off your chair laughing, that would mean that satire remains a powerful language but one that’s edging toward extinction, especially at this level. Yet we trust you will chuckle, and a great deal, as you watch the second trailer for the film, which takes its cue precisely from the preemptive accusations of racism and cultural appropriation and from the call by some to boycott it, in order to flip the situation in a humorous direction. To introduce the matter is, guess what, a certain bearded Kazakh journalist, Borat himself, who claims to have viewed the film and unfortunately did not find it racist, and thus invites everyone to boycott it for this very reason, before unexpectedly presenting us with two other characters portrayed by Cohen the translator in the film, namely, in addition to Ali G, a “member of a terrorist group, the Liberals,” who urges the audience of color to react to the cultural appropriation carried out by the author and finally, he tells us (Cohen’s satire spares really no one, as it should), “this Jew has transformed into another Jew with muscles almost as big as my wife.” And here we see him in military gear training a group of burly American patriots, telling them that immigrants are not in the country for what becomes a long list of real things, but to kill them all. What makes the scenes even funnier are the authentic reactions of the people involved, who have absolutely no idea who they are facing. But let’s make room for the trailer for Ali G. Who Iz I? which will arrive in America on October 23 and with us… we hope, sooner or later (at most on streaming, given that it is produced by Amazon Studios).

Does Ali G. Who Iz I? Have a Real Plot?

Being as usual a mock documentary, in the film we see Ali G. infiltrating various environments that do not suspect his false identity, triggering genuine reactions to his evident provocations. As stated in the trailer, the filming spanned two years, and the official plot is that after twenty years spent partying, the rapper is shocked to discover that his long-time girlfriend, Julie, is eight months pregnant. Since he will have a mouth to feed, Ali G. decides to head for America to reclaim his former glory, but he soon encounters adversaries who threaten his life and that of the future child.
