New romances, unexpected alliances, and a few inevitable nerves: the attorneys of All’s Fair are ready to return. The second season of the series created by Ryan Murphy had its world premiere at the twenty-first edition of the Festa del Cinema di Roma, and will arrive on Disney+ on November 4 with the first three episodes. The series will then continue with a new installment every Wednesday. On the occasion of the Rome presentation, we met two of the stars, Sarah Paulson and Niecy Nash-Betts, to talk about their characters, strong and mature women who take what they want, and about the news of the second season. Watch our exclusive video interview below.
All’s Fair 2: Plot and Cast
The lawyers from the Grant, Ronson & Greene firm will return for a new season of scandals, secrets, and stilettos. “As new alliances are formed, friendships are tested, and a shocking revelation threatens the very existence of the firm,” warns Disney+. The new season will also pick up some of the conflicts left unresolved: Carrington Lane (Sarah Paulson) seems intent on tearing the firm down from within, while Dina Standish (Glenn Close), arrested at the finale for murder, will return to the scene. At the center of the story will also be Allura (Kim Kardashian), Liberty (Naomi Watts) and Emerald (Niecy Nash-Betts), with their intricate personal and professional dynamics. The cast will also include Teyana Taylor, Matthew Noszka and Cauã Reymond.
The Our Interview with Sarah Paulson and Niecy Nash-Betts
At the heart of our conversation with Sarah Paulson and Niecy Nash-Betts is, first of all, the way the series tells the story of women: imperfect, ambitious protagonists, sometimes ruthless, who do not necessarily need to be comforting or pleasing to everyone. The two actresses reflected on the evolution of female representation on television and the possibility of finally seeing mature, powerful, funny, and desirable women, far from the usual stereotype of the “nurturing” and reassuring woman.
New loves for Carrington and Emerald?
Carrington and Emerald, the characters played by Paulson and Nash-Betts respectively, are more alike than they may seem. Both are single mothers, apparently tough and used to shielding themselves behind a kind of emotional armor, but they conceal a deep vulnerability. The new season will allow a deeper look especially into Emerald’s relationship with her children and her journey as a mother, offering moments that the two actresses consider among the best of the series. There will also be new romantic developments. The leads have hinted at new love stories for their characters, while Sarah promised new moments of crisis for Carrington, after the unforgettable first-season scene in which the attorney climbed onto the table in heels. Finally, the glamour of All’s Fair: costumes designed by Paula Bradley, which help define the style of each protagonist, up to the wardrobes the two actresses cannot wait to wear in the new episodes (and we cannot wait to see).
