Halloween is taken seriously in the United States, and Alyson Hannigan will surely give her neighbors a hard time this year, proudly displaying in her garden decorations that came straight from the set of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Unforgettable Willow, years after the beloved supernatural TV series concluded, Hannigan has shown fans how recycling can be a winning strategy for Halloween, especially when the available material comes from a clearly horror-themed set.
Alyson Hannigan has decorated her home garden for Halloween using Buffy the Vampire Slayer props
Set in Sunnydale, Buffy the Vampire Slayer ran for seven seasons, following a teenager known as the Slayer, a role entrusted to Buffy Summers, who fought to navigate a world of vampires, demons, and forces of evil, with the support of her closest friends. It’s no surprise that, when needed, the production enriched its set with strictly horror decorations and that, years later, Alyson Hannigan has dressed her own garden with several of them.
Via Instagram, the Willow actress offered fans a small tour of the improvised cemetery in her garden, showing off props brought home directly from the Buffy set: “One of the advantages of working on Buffy the Vampire Slayer was that the art department gave me a ton of Halloween stuff. They lent me Halloween things and then, when the show ended, they told me: ‘Take everything’.”
Among the props stand several tombstones, which could have appeared in the series’ opening credits, and a heavy cross that Alyson Hannigan “you might recognize from Buffy,” though she wasn’t certain of its exact placement. In fact she urged fans: “Tell me. I bet you’ll know when it appeared.” And so it happened: fans identified that cross as being associated with Spike in the seventh season. Another prop is an opened coffin with a skeleton inside, a delicate item used in the first season: “It’s really fragile,” the actress confessed.
