Back in 1990, when the film Days of Thunder arrived in cinemas, in which he portrays the NASCAR driver Cole Trickle, Tom Cruise is 28 years old and already a star: in the same year he won the Golden Globe and earned his first Oscar nomination for his first dramatic role in Born on the Fourth of July, and he already has commercial hits like Cocktail and Top Gun. Tony Scott, the director of the latter, four years earlier, again directs him in another adrenaline-fueled role in Days of Thunder, whose set proves to be fateful because the actor meets what perhaps remains the great love of his life, Nicole Kidman, who would marry that very year of the film’s release and stay with him until 2001. As happened with Top Gun, Days of Thunder is also moving toward a sequel 26 years after the original, and on his social channels Tom Cruise announces with what turns out to be his new on-screen partner, Anne Hathaway, with the photo at the Daytona circuit and the video you see below, the film’s release in the summer of 2028. In the playful video, it is also announced that filming will begin after the actress (currently on our screens in two films, Odyssey and The End of Oak Street), will have shed the baby bump, i.e. will have given birth to her third child. After all, we know Hollywood stars bounce back into shape in no time. The director of the sequel, by the way, is Jonathan Levine.
