Of all the actors who, over the years and across films, have taken on the role of Santa Claus, Arnold Schwarzenegger is certainly among the most unexpected and surprising. The actor who became a symbol of muscular, macho action cinema in the eighties, who later served as California’s governor and who has always had a soft spot for comedy, wears the iconic red suit with white trim in Mission: Save Christmas, which we will watch streaming on Prime Video from December 2. It is presented as an original reinterpretation of the genre’s classics, rooted in an irresistible blend of action, comedy and Christmas magic. The film, which brings Schwarzenegger back to Christmas cinema thirty years after the famous A Promise Is a Promise, is written by Allan Rice and directed by Adam Shankman, with the hulking Alan Ritchson teaming up with Arnold and featuring a cast that also includes Berkeley James, Michael Cyril Creighton, Liza Koshy, Kyle Mooney, Jane Krakowski, along with Ken Jeong and Awkwafina. Here below are the plot and the official trailer for Mission: Save Christmas.
When the iconic red Santa sack (Schwarzenegger) is stolen by a rebellious and vengeful elf (Awkwafina), Christmas is suddenly put at risk. As the year’s most important night draws closer, Santa recruits a thief (Ritchson), who ends up on his “Bad List,” who must quickly assemble a band of eccentric criminals — with a little help from elves and reindeer — to pull off the most unexpected heist of their lives. Rich in holiday magic, big laughs and plenty of heart, MISSION: SAVE CHRISTMAS is a Christmas adventure built on second chances, unlikely friendships and the realization that sometimes even Santa needs a helping hand to deliver Christmas.
