Fans of Christmas cinema know the drill, but to avoid any confusion it’s right to highlight it: Arnold Schwarzenegger, among many other things, is also remembered as the star of what almost instantly became one of the season’s most beloved classics: it was 1996 when the actor played the lead in A Promise Is a Promise, portraying a father who, to make up for numerous oversights, decides to literally do everything to gift his son the toy he desires so much, and which now seems nearly unobtainable anywhere.
Now, thirty years after that film, Schwarzenegger returns to acting in a Christmas movie, and this time donning the mantle of one of the festival’s top symbols: Santa Claus himself. This happens in Mission: Save Christmas, a film that we will stream on Prime Video from December 2, an original reinterpretation of the genre’s classics built on an irresistible mix of action, comedy and Christmas magic.

When Santa’s iconic red sack (Schwarzenegger) is stolen by a rebellious and vengeful elf (Awkwafina), Christmas is suddenly at risk. As the most important night of the year draws ever closer, Santa recruits a thief (Ritchson), who lands on his Naughty List, who must quickly assemble a band of eccentric criminals — with a little help from elves and reindeer — to pull off the most unexpected heist of their lives. Rich with holiday magic, big laughs, and plenty of heart, Mission: Save Christmas is a festive adventure about second chances, improbable friendships, and the discovery that sometimes even Santa needs a hand to deliver Christmas.
