Bad Monkey 2: Vince Vaughn vs. John Malkovich — Explosive Official Trailer for the New Season

For Andrew Yancy, trouble never truly ends, but this time it might be too big even for his sarcasm. Vince Vaughn returns with the second season of Carl Hiaasen’s Bad Monkey, where he will have to face a mafia boss portrayed by John Malkovich. Apple TV has released the official trailer, foreshadowing new misadventures filled with bullets, explosions and criminal intrigue. The premiere is scheduled for December 2, 2026 with the first of ten episodes, followed by a new installment every Wednesday until February 3, 2027.

The Official Trailer for Bad Monkey 2: Vince Vaughn and John Malkovich Face Off

Developed by Bill Lawrence and based on Carl Hiaasen’s bestseller, the series will continue to lean into its signature blend of irreverent humor, criminal mysteries, and unpredictable situations. Among the major new additions is the entrance of John Malkovich, who will portray a powerful mafia boss destined to become Andrew Yancy’s new foe. The new trailer shows Vaughn’s character contending directly with Spencer Donovan, Malkovich’s crime boss, a cultured and formidable adversary who does not seem inclined to grant the detective any respite.

One of the most entertaining moments in the trailer shows Yancy cornered by Donovan’s men on the roof of a hotel. With a gun pointed at him, the protagonist maintains his usual sarcasm and asks: “Is it a problem if I quickly call 911?” There are plenty of spectacular sequences, with bullets to dodge, car crashes and buildings blowing up. The action is set to Guns N’ Roses’ Paradise City. The trailer also features Rosa Campensino, played by Natalie Martinez. The dynamic with Yancy remains intricate, and the woman does not hide a certain impatience: “I understand why people shoot at you,” she tells him.

Bad Monkey 2, Plot and Cast: The New Case

The second season picks up with a murder: Andrew Yancy witnesses the death of Florida’s most capable fixer and is drawn into the investigation by an ambitious state prosecutor, who teams him up with a rigorous forensic accountant. What begins as a routine inquiry soon spirals into a turf war for control among rival criminal organizations. Yancy must also protect a determined young woman and navigate a cast of eccentric local characters. On the personal front, the detective must confront his aging father and the unresolved romantic tension with Rosa, who is also involved in investigating a mysterious skin eruption. Completing the picture is a flamboyant specialist in animal transfers, whose activities threaten the local environment.

In the cast, Vince Vaughn, Natalie Martinez, Charlotte Lawrence and John Ortiz return. A notable addition to the lineup is Yvonne Strahovski (The Handmaid’s Tale), who will portray Delaney West, a prosecutor with political ambitions. We will also see Zavior Phillips, chosen for the role of Eddie, the accountant. Among the new faces are Nate Jackson (The Paper), Sofia Boutella (SAS: Rogue Heroes), Brent Morin (Undateable), Joey Avery, Dax Shepard (The Ranch), Sam Jaeger (The Handmaid’s Tale), Margarita Levieva (Revenge), Peter Billingsley (Iron Man) and June Diane Raphael (Grace and Frankie).
