Behind the Scenes of Peccato: Comedy with Emanuela Fanelli – New Clip Exclusive Preview

As new episodes continue to stream every Friday on HBO Max, the behind-the-scenes exploration of Peccato, the Italian original comedy directed by Valerio Vestoso who, with the style of a faux documentary, is recounting the life of actress and comedian Emanuela Fanelli in a speculative 2049, at the age of 63, goes on. ComingSoon.it offers you an exclusive early view of the fourth backstage clip, focused on the production’s efforts to “manage the language of the documentary within a fake documentary”.

Peccato: the plot of the TV series and how it was realized

From Vestoso’s account, “we used as many as thirteen different cameras. From the faux footage of when Emanuela was little to cellphone-shot scenes, studio cameras…” Fanelli adds: “And to shoot so many things, it was a bit like Arturo Brachetti in certain moments, given the situation,” referring to the transformist, actor, illusionist, and Italian theater director.

Written by the two together with Giulio Somazzi, Peccato offers an ironic what if scenario that retraces the tumultuous career and life of Emanuela Fanelli. We are in 2049. Emanuela is 63 years old and lives isolated in a small, remote town in the Valle d’Aosta. She has abandoned acting, no longer gives interviews, and avoids cameras and journalists. After years away from the stage, the world of show business seems to have completely forgotten about her. But what triggered such a resounding fall? To seek an answer is journalist Malcom Pagani, who decides to make a documentary about the life of the former actress. Through interviews with colleagues, directors, friends, and famous figures, he tries to reconstruct her career, from the initial successes to the mysterious incident that would have forced her retirement.

The strength of Peccato lies in its irreverent way of lampooning the Italian entertainment world. The series alternates interviews, reconstructions, and seemingly authentic testimonies, building an absurd yet credible universe. Alongside the protagonist appear numerous familiar faces, including Paola Cortellesi, Alessandro Borghi, Sabrina Ferilli, Valerio Mastandrea and Ferzan Özpetek. The guests portray ironic and imagined versions of themselves in the future.
