Only a few days remain until the Netflix streaming debut of Animals, the new film produced, written, directed, and starred in by Ben Affleck. It marks Affleck’s sixth directorial effort, placing him in the role of Mark Kimball, a politician who is facing a challenging mayoral campaign in Los Angeles. In the midst of that upheaval, he receives a fateful call: his son has been kidnapped. Confronted with this news, devastating in itself, he and his wife Abigail must figure out how to respond and behave, becoming entangled in a web of deceit and confronting choices that could destroy the carefully planned and built life they share, as buried secrets are laid bare.
Alongside Affleck in the cast, we find Kerry Washington in the role of his wife, as well as Gillian Anderson (recently a standout lead in Camp Miasma), Steven Yeun (who also appeared in another Netflix film, The Rip, right beside Affleck and Damon), Luis Gerardo Méndez and Adriana Paz.
Here is the new trailer and the poster for Animals.
