If you’re searching for the next big romance obsession after shows like Maxton Hall and Off Campus, Prime Video may have uncovered the perfect tale for you. It’s called Boys of Tommen, the new young adult series adapted from the highly successful saga by Irish author Chloe Walsh, who became a genuine phenomenon on BookTok and a New York Times bestseller. And now, at last, we can offer a first look at the leads. The platform released the initial official images from the series during Prime Video’s Obsessed Retreat: Class of ’26, a two‑day immersive event held in the Bavarian Alps in Germany, where attendees could get a glimpse of some of the platform’s most anticipated new releases. Alongside the pictures, there was also a video message from the cast, which you can view below.
Boys of Tommen, the plot: A forbidden love story
In the photos, we see the protagonists Nancy Surridge portraying Shannon Lynch and Conor Sánchez taking on the role of Johnny Kavanagh. At the center of the series are these two, two teenagers who appear to be worlds apart who cross paths in the corridors of the prestigious Tommen College, located in the Irish town of Ballylaggin. Johnny is the boy everyone knows: the star of the school’s rugby team, popular and destined for a bright professional future. Shannon, by contrast, is the newcomer. Talented and intensely private, she carries a family reality far more challenging than her peers can imagine. Both conceal secrets: Johnny a career-ending injury, and Shannon a difficult and violent family life. Through their secret, highly charged bond, two youths from opposing backgrounds must fight against every obstacle and find a way to save one another.
From the novels to the small screen
The first season of Boys of Tommen will adapt the initial two novels of Chloe Walsh’s saga, Binding 13 and Keeping 13, the books that gave life to the Johnny and Shannon storyline and that captured a vast online readership. The series has been adapted for television by Poppy Cogan, who previously penned Come uccidono le brave ragazze. The direction is led by Brendan Canty, a VMA‑nominated filmmaker known for Christy.
The rest of the cast
Alongside Nancy Surridge and Conor Sánchez, the cast features a number of young actors ready to bring the Tommen College universe to life. Among the leads are James O’Donoghue as Joey Lynch and Sophie McGibbon as Aoife Molloy. Completing the main ensemble are Amelia May (Claire Biggs), John Hewson (Gerard Gibson), Indy Lewis (Lizzie Young), Alex Dunne (Hugh Biggs), Dixie Egerickx (Katie Wilmot), and Jamie Schneider (Patrick Feely). Other performers include Daisy Jacob as Bella Wilkinson, Jonathan Heed as Cormac Ryan, Cathal Ó Síocháin as Ronan McGarry, James Craven as Pierce O’Neill, and Lewis Brophy as Podge.
