Beyond The Mandalorian: Katee Sackhoff Teases Bo-Katan Spin-Off Idea

Bo-Katan Kryze hasn’t been involved in The Mandalorian and Grogu after actively participating in the plot of The Mandalorian, but her actress Katee Sackhoff said she was not only open to the idea of picking up that character again, but to offering the audience even an independent spin-off. But how likely would Bo-Katan be to lead a TV series all on her own?

After The Mandalorian, Katee Sackhoff dreams of returning to Bo-Katan: here is her idea

After The Mandalorian and Grogu, Star Wars has not clarified its fate: we don’t know what will happen to the Mandalorian, whether we’ll see him again on Disney+ with new seasons or in theaters with other big-screen adventures. In the meantime, Katee Sackhoff has said she is ready for a leading adventure bringing back her Mandalorian warrior who contributed a valuable to The Mandalorian.

Guesting on a panel during the FanX Tampa Bay Comic Con 2026, as reported by Collider, Katee Sackhoff retraced her path in Star Wars, when Bo-Katan arrived in her hands first as an animated character and then in live action in The Mandalorian. An ally of Din Djarin, she reclaimed their devastated planet Mandalore, and Katee Sackhoff would be happy to reconnect with that character. In fact, she even has an idea: instead of dwelling on what happened after The Mandalorian, she would like to delve into what happened before that moment through a prequel that would explore the twisted dynamic between Bo-Katan and her sister Satine. “I’ve always wanted to see what their life as girls was like, who Bo was as a kid. I’ve always pictured her as a lively girl, a child who ran around and did what she wanted because no one paid attention to her, since everything was focused on her sister. I would really love to see it. I think animation would be a wonderful way to deepen that story and see it take shape.”

After all, the first time Katee Sackhoff approached Bo-Katan was during The Clone Wars, the animated TV series that introduced her as Satine’s sister, ruler of the Mandalore planet. She later returned in Star Wars Rebels, and recently a new animated project titled Star Wars: Lego Star Wars: The Mandalorian was proposed, in which the actress reprises the role of Bo-Katan. Would an animated prequel really be possible?
