The bond between Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson is so strong that it fuels the intriguing suspicion they might be brothers in Apple TV’s new comedy Brothers, streaming from September 23, with a new episode dropping every Wednesday (two episodes in the first week). The Hollywood duo, who previously shared the screen in a TV series in 2014, during the memorable first season of True Detective, portray fictionalized versions of themselves in a story about friendship, family and identity. Here you can watch the official Italian trailer.
Brothers: The Plot and the Cast of the TV Series
Created by Emmy-nominated and Peabody Award-winning Lee Eisenberg, who has previously worked behind the scenes on Apple TV’s Stick and Lessons in Chemistry and in the past served as a screenwriter and producer on The Office, Brothers follows McConaughey and Harrelson, two middle-aged men whose friendship is upended when they uncover a decades-old secret: they might actually be brothers.
After Woody’s daughter’s wedding falls apart, the actor decides to load up the whole family and move temporarily to Austin, to spend an extended spell at Matthew’s ranch. What initially seems like a rejuvenating vacation takes an unexpected turn when Ma Mac, Matthew’s mother (portrayed by Holland Taylor), accidentally leaks a secret buried for years about their true bond.
While Woody turns the ranch upside down in an effort to uncover the truth, Matthew finds himself facing a completely different identity crisis: a possible bid for Governor of Texas. A moving, chaotic and irresistibly funny story emerges that explores friendship, family, fame and the fine line between myth and reality.
The rest of the cast includes Natalie Martinez (Carl Hiaasen’s Bad Monkey), Brittany Ishibashi (Grace and Frankie), Nolan Almeida, Ella Grace Helton (The Color of Magnolias), Noah Carganilla, Highdee Kuan (The Brothers Sun) and Oona Yaffe (Sleepy Hollow).
