Charli XCX to Appear in Martin Scorsese’s What Happens at Night

Curiosity grows around the new film by Martin Scorsese, What Happens at Night, starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence. Variety reports that the collaboration between British singer-songwriter Charli XCX and the director, who appeared on the cover of his new album, “Music, Fashion, Film,” will continue into cinema, as the pop star will have a small role in the film, which alongside the lead actors also features Mads Mikkelsen, Patricia Clarkson, and Ed Harris. The part Charli will play has not been disclosed, and it is likely to be just a cameo, but it is another confirmation of the mutual affection between her and cinema. The story of the film, produced by Apple and StudioCanal, is that of a couple traveling to a European town to adopt a child and staying in a hotel frequented by quirky people as their situation becomes increasingly intricate.

Charli XCX and the Cinema

Always passionate about cinema and endowed with a strong personality, Charli XCX has appeared in several films in the last two years, including Eruption, in which she has a leading role and for which she also wrote and produced, 100 Nights of Hero, Sacrifice by Romain Gavras, in which she makes a cameo, the mockumentary The Moment, I Want Your Sex, The Gallerist, Faces of Death, in addition to Takashi Miike’s new film, to which she now adds a collaboration with Oscar winner Martin Scorsese. After all, he chose her, as you can see below, for the cover of his new album, where the director appears beside the renowned musician and Velvet Underground founder John Cale and designer Marc Jacobs, chosen precisely to represent the three arts “Music, Fashion, Film,” which give the album its title. Charli XCX is about to finish her U.S. tour promoting the disc, before beginning the European leg in February.
