Chase Stokes Reveals Serious Health Issues Suffered After Outer Banks

The news of the finale of ‘Outer Banks’ took fans by surprise at the time. Netflix had already announced in 2024 that the fifth season would be the last, and the reasons escaped many amid its success and the direction it was headed. The last episode arrived on August 20 and left, and there is a void waiting to be filled after so long hooked on the series.

Now that everything has ended we have time to reflect, think, and stay attentive to what its production team tells us. And this latter is very important, because the context helps us understand some of the reasons it might have ended sooner than expected. The information now emerging centers on the series’ lead actor, Chase Stokes, who has revealed that his health was in danger after wrapping filming of the final season.

Body at the Limit

The actor spoke in a recent interview about the finale of the series, while also reflecting on his career in the past and his future. This is where he opened up and spoke about his serious health problems, unknown to many of his fans. “When I left the series… the liver was failing, the kidney was failing. I had so many health problems to solve, and my brain was totally out of control. It was an important moment for me to sort out my thoughts, instead of simply going back to work and masking it.”

He added that his testosterone levels were dangerously low, and that he needed therapy both physically and mentally. “I had so much wrong with me,” he told his interviewers. He also says that he does not regret prioritizing his health over his career once filming wrapped, and that if he hadn’t paused in time he could have ended up like other actors who died too soon.

An Optimistic Perspective

Fortunately, now Stokes is in a place much better than a year ago. “I feel great for the first time in a long time,” he assured in the interview. That said, he has no rush to jump into the next chapter of his career and will take all the time he sees fit to recover physically. After all, he has just finished a six-year stretch in which ‘Outer Banks’ has dominated his life.
