Chicago Fire Season 15 Premiere Photos: First Look, Featuring a Farewell

It will be a somber start to the season for Chicago Fire. As we know from earlier reports, the premiere of the fifteenth season, scheduled in the United States for October 7 (in Italy by the end of the year on Sky and streaming on NOW), will remove from Firehouse 51 Dom Pascal, the now-former chief played by Dermot Mulroney. We still cannot know exactly how, but the first photos of the premiere released by NBC show him alive and well, right where we left him.

Chicago Fire Season 15: How the New Season Will Begin

Last time, Squad 51 was called to a massive fire inside a building. The situation had quickly spiraled out of control: part of the crew was inside, while Kidd, Herrmann, and the others from Truck 81 were involved in operations outside. Suddenly there was a very violent explosion. A flare of flame swept Truck 81’s aerial ladder, while inside some of the team members had become trapped.

Dom is one of the few characters we know to be safe from the major cliffhanger that closed the previous season. Now we have photographic confirmation that Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo) is safe as well, while Herrmann (David Eigenberg) and Ballard (Leroy Williams III) appear on the ladder in another image. The photos also show the new recruits at the firehouse—Jansen, Hollis, McCaffrey, and Marcus Burke—portrayed respectively by Joe Eichorst, K.C. McNeil, Matthew Daddario, and Da’Vinchi.

“I feel as if every character is walking through a ring of fire to be accepted by the family. It’s like a mafia family. I believe the rookies are a genuinely funny and exciting addition to the show,” said Hanako Greensmith (the actress behind Violet Mikami) to TV Insider. “There are so many new and thrilling people; both on screen and off, you really feel alive right now. I think the rookies will push forward many new stories that the audience hasn’t seen, and they will highlight a lot of diversity and emotional range for many different characters. I don’t think it will go the way people expect, and there’s something truly interesting about it.”
