We left him on the hills of Hollywood, tending, in his own way, to the members of Charles Manson’s Family who had chosen to break into Rick Dalton’s house, played by Leonardo DiCaprio, instead of Sharon Tate’s, and then we lost track of him. But now Cliff Booth, the character portrayed by Brad Pitt in Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood and who earned him an Oscar, is set to return. The New Misadventures of Cliff Booth, of which you can watch the trailer below, will debut in Italian IMAX theaters on November 26, and will then be available from December 23 on Netflix.
As you probably know, the film stems from an original screenplay by Quentin Tarantino that has been entrusted to director David Fincher.
Here is the plot:
Murder, blackmail, theft, extortion: a typical Hollywood summer. It is 1977, eight years after Cliff Booth (Brad Pitt) encountered the Manson family in Tarantino’s parallel 1969 tale told in Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood. In The New Misadventures of Cliff Booth, directed by David Fincher and based on a new Tarantino screenplay, the fairy tale is over. Los Angeles no longer needs a stuntman who specialized in wiping out hippies as he once did. But Hollywood will always have problems, and some can only be solved by someone with Cliff’s unique skills (and sometimes bordering on the illegal). When he’s not working as a bartender or a projectionist, Cliff Booth solves the problems of Hollywood’s grandees and, at times, even those of people who aren’t that great. His curiosity is piqued when he receives a call from talent agent Karen Crosby (Elizabeth Debicki), who reaches out on behalf of her client Charlie Peters (Scott Caan), a television star famous for performing his own stunts. Cliff’s interest grows further when he meets the other people who orbit Charlie, from his insightful wife Toni (Carla Gugino) to former football champion turned movie star Roderick “Hot Rod” Harrison (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II). And then there are the Verdusco brothers (Matt Groove and JB Tadena), mysterious gangsters who spread chaos across the city. What was once a fairy tale now becomes a crime story: a tangle of violence, ambition, and desire that could exist only in Los Angeles.
