Robin Hood Season 2: Colin O’Donoghue previews who he’ll play and what he detests most about his character
Guest at the Fan Expo Canada, Colin O’Donoghue joked about Robin Hood and Sean Maguire who portrayed him in Once Upon a Time, then moved on to the second season of the eponymous series that will soon involve him. After the success of the first season streamed on MGM+ in November 2025, Robin Hood is set to return with a second season that will also involve Colin O’Donoghue as the Prince Richard.
The actor acknowledged that he is currently in Serbia with filming in the Sherwood Forest: “I play the prince Richard who, spoiler alert, becomes King Richard. I haven’t revealed much about the second season yet. It’s really interesting. He’s a good guy; he’s not like Prince John, a real villain.” The latter role is played by Graeme Thomas King, who appeared intermittently in the first season and returns as a regular in the second.
To portray his character in Robin Hood, the actor admitted giving in to an aesthetic request: the beard: “That’s why I have this silly beard, which I actually trimmed for this weekend. It used to be longer than this, and I hate it.” To play the brave Robin Hood of MGM+ is Jack Patten, while Sean Bean is the Sheriff of Nottingham.
