Crazy About Aran Murphy: Cillian Murphy’s Look-Alike Son to Star in a New TV Series Soon

Like father, like son. Aran Murphy, 19 years old, drew public attention during his first solo appearance on the red carpet at the London premiere of Youth, the new HBO Max comedy. The reason is simple: on social media, everyone went wild over the incredible resemblance to his father, the Oscar-winning actor Cillian Murphy. But when Youth is released, what role does Aran Murphy play?

The resemblance between Cillian and Aran Murphy

Aran appeared before photographers and journalists showing a resemblance to his father that instantly triggered comparisons. Photos and videos from the event began circulating on social media, and many users admitted they did a genuine double take. “No need to say his name, you all know who his father is,” one user wrote on X, accompanying the comment with a photo of the young actor. But it isn’t only Aran’s face that has impressed the public. Many highlighted how similar his voice, facial expressions, gestures, and way of speaking are to those of the famous father. “Cillian Murphy really did a copy-and-paste,” commented one user in a post that quickly went viral. Cillian Murphy is known for his particularly reserved and calm interview style, a characteristic that in the past has sometimes been interpreted as coldness or disinterest in promoting his films. Aran’s demeanor did not seem much different.

Youth: The Plot of the Series in Which We’ll See Aran Murphy

Aran Murphy is following in his father’s footsteps and has already begun crafting a career in acting. In Youth, a series created and starred by Sharon Horgan, he plays Ruari, the protagonist’s teenage son. In the photo below you can see him with Horgan.

The series follows a 50-year-old divorced woman in search of sex and love, while she must simultaneously care for ill parents and a son who should now be an adult. In the cast, alongside Aran Murphy and Sharon Horgan, are Rupert Friend, Sharlene Whyte and Robbie Gee. Youth will premiere with the first two episodes on Monday September 21, streaming on HBO Max. The first season will consist of eight episodes, with a new installment every Monday until the finale scheduled for November 2.

Aran Murphy’s Career Is Only Beginning

But for Aran this is only the beginning. The young actor will also be part of the cast of War – The Divorce of the Century, a drama set in the world of two prestigious rival London law firms, in which he will perform alongside Sienna Miller and Dominic West. And that’s not all. Aran Murphy will also make his feature-film debut in the highly anticipated adaptation of Klara and the Sun, directed by Taika Waititi and starring, among others, Jenna Ortega and Amy Adams. The young Murphy’s career is thus just getting started. And, judging by the public’s reaction to his first red-carpet appearance, the surname he carries may not be the only reason we’ll be hearing about him for a long time.
