Sometimes the unexpected moments on a movie set end up becoming anecdotes that actors remember for years. In the case of Dakota Johnson, what happened during the Verity shoot was indeed more alarming: the actress fainted in Josh Hartnett’s arms while they were filming a scene.
Johnson herself recounted the incident during an appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers, as she promoted the new psychological thriller based on Colleen Hoover’s bestselling novel of the same name.
Dakota Johnson Fainted During a Verity Scene
Dakota Johnson explained that she and Josh Hartnett were in the middle of a particularly serious moment when, suddenly, she lost consciousness.

The actress described the moment to Seth Meyers. Hartnett managed to catch her before she fell and helped lower her to the ground as the rest of the crew stepped in to assess what had happened.
Only later did she learn that she was suffering from a kidney infection, the cause of the sudden collapse.
After Fainting, Dakota Johnson Wanted to Keep Filming
Once she had regained consciousness, Johnson’s first instinct was not to halt the day’s work. On the contrary, the actress was ready to get back in position and resume the scene.
«Sorry guys, let’s do it again»
She reportedly told the crew, convinced she could press on with the shoot.
The production’s reply was, “No, you go to the hospital now.”
Johnson was then taken to the hospital, where the episode was attributed to the kidney infection.

At the center of Verity is Lowen Ashleigh, played by Dakota Johnson, a writer navigating a difficult phase in her career when she receives a tough-to-refuse offer: to finish the unfinished books left behind by the famed Verity Crawford.
