It seems like a déjà vu: Daredevil is running out of time on the small screen, according to recent statements from Marvel Studios. After three seasons helmed by Marvel Television from 2015 to 2018, the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen got a second chance years later, from 2025, with a revival titled Daredevil: Rebirth that rekindled the fans’ excitement who years earlier fought hard to ensure Daredevil wouldn’t fade into obscurity. And it was precisely the fans, recently, who spoke up on social media again, reviving the campaign to save Daredevil: Rebirth.
Daredevil: Rebirth, the fandom reacts to (yet another) cancellation
The third season of Daredevil: Rebirth, slated to stream on Disney+ in March 2027, apparently will be the final, a decision officially announced by Marvel Studios after the departure of showrunner Dario Scardapane. His contract has reached its end and was not renewed by the Studios, while the third season is currently in post-production.
The decision naturally did not sit well with the devoted audience, who vented their frustration and bitterness across the web, reviving the SaveDaredevil campaign, which had already won this battle once. On social media, the message reads: “When Daredevil was canceled eight years ago, the entire fandom was stunned, just as it was celebrating an epic third season. How could it end like this? Matt, Karen, and Foggy had reunited. We were ready to see Hell’s Kitchen defended by Nelson, Murdock, and Page. Melvin Potter would surely return as the Gladiator. And what about Foggy and Marci? But we never gave up. We stayed united and present because we wanted those responsible to feel our passion for these stories and for this cast. Then, in March 2025, Daredevil was born again.”

A victory for the fandom, followed then by another setback: “March 2027 will mark another closing chapter in the Daredevil saga as portrayed by Charlie Cox. We don’t know what the future holds for his version of the character (we hope for a lot more!), but our gratitude would be incomplete if we didn’t thank these extra seasons and, of course, celebrate our enormous love for the Fearless Fandom. We will always have a reason to rejoice in what this series has given us and to relive together our favorite moments.”
During the two seasons of Rebirth, Daredevil brought back into action several beloved characters such as Kingpin portrayed by Vincent D’Onofrio, The Punisher played by Jon Bernthal, Karen Page played by Deborah Ann Woll, Jessica Jones played by Krysten Ritter, and also Luke Cage portrayed by Mike Colter.
Vincent D’Onofrio breaks his silence on the halt of Daredevil: Rebirth
Regarding the cancellation, Vincent D’Onofrio spoke up as well. The actor who portrays Kingpin commented on Marvel Studios’ decision. On X, he addressed the fans directly: “Thank you all for following Rebirth. You’ve stood by us, and I like to think we did the same for you. The final season, the third season, will arrive next year with some truly fantastic things. Much love to everyone who supported us. I love Fisk. I will always love him. Now I’m heading toward another corner of the world. In the meantime… the third season is coming.”
The SaveDaredevil team reposted Vincent D’Onofrio’s message, and the actor, in turn, wanted to personally thank the campaign launched by the fans: “We owe you a thanks, so, thank you SaveDaredevil.”
