Dexter Morgan puts an end to the wait. Paramount+ has finally announced the release date for the second season of Dexter: Resurrection: the new chapter in the saga of the most beloved TV serial killer will begin just hours before Halloween, on October 30, 2026, with a new episode dropping every Friday. There’s more! The streaming service has also released the first teaser trailer, in which the antihero played by Michael C. Hall undergoes an eye exam for a new pair of glasses, along with a rapid montage of needles, weapons and stabbings. It would be routine, except that, among old ghosts and new killers, the protagonist faces one of the toughest challenges of his life.
Dexter: Resurrection, what to expect in season 2
In this new run of episodes, Dexter finds himself entangled in the affairs of two killers: one with decades of notoriety and the other, younger, intent on terrorizing New York in ways never seen before. As if that weren’t enough, Dexter must contend with a new and unexpected foe: a midlife crisis. Meanwhile, Harrison (Jack Alcott) continues his personal pursuit of justice, as father and son confront what Paramount+ describes as “the darkest chapter of their lives”.
Dan Stevens (Downton Abbey) and Brian Cox (Succession) portray the two big villains of the season, respectively Owen Stark and Don Framt. The first, nicknamed “The Killer of the Five Boroughs,” is a methodical and ruthless serial killer who, following the footsteps of the Zodiac, relishes provoking law enforcement with threatening calls before striking. When he moves to action, his deeds spread panic among citizens and police, throwing New York into a state of terror. The second, known as “The Slasher of New York,” is a killer who once terrorized the city and, although no longer active, continues to haunt his surviving victims in disturbing ways.
Among the new additions to the regular cast this season are Bokeem Woodbine (Halo) and Nona Parker (Mayor of Kingstown). He portrays Mixon, the captain of Homicide, described as a tenacious man. She plays his daughter Fiona, a trainee agent in the unit and Harrison’s new love interest. We will also see Krysten Ritter and David Zayas reprise their roles as Mia LaPierre and Angel Batista, while guest star Gabriel Luna (The Last of Us) will depict Ray Ballard, a serial killer known as “The Stranger with Sleepy Eyes”.
