Tom Cruise’s latest project isn’t having its best moment. ‘Digger’, the provocative work in which the actor plays his most rebellious role to date, has opened in theaters with a resounding failure in its first weeks. The box office isn’t being kind to Alejandro González Iñárritu’s new release and could become the least profitable film associated with Cruise, a hard blow for the actor, who has managed in recent years to rebound his career.
But even as the box office misses the mark, the critics are there. They are polarizing and many label it as disappointing, but there is a segment of people who are in love with the feature like few others this year. And there is someone who seems to declare herself particularly a fan: Anne Hathaway claims it is a perfect-score film, and that it deserves our time as viewers.
Brilliant Like No Other
The actress’s opinion doesn’t stay hidden anywhere, as she has published her own review on Letterboxd. It is short in words, but she crowns it with the maximum score on the site and, furthermore, it is the only feature-length film to which she has dedicated an own review. Most of the films she has reacted to on the site she has only liked and has not elaborated on them further.
“I absolutely loved this brilliant film,” she begins in her review. “It is intelligent, stunning, aggressive, funny and ambitious. It is worth the time to watch it and decide for yourself how much it’s worth. For me? 10/10“. The responses to her review have been positive, with fans celebrating that she enjoyed it and expressed it on her social networks. “Welcome to the Digger nation,” some say, praising the film’s excellence.
A Small Doubt
Hathaway’s review may be sincere and speak the truth as she feels it, but there is a cloud of uncertainty that makes some fans doubt. She has not participated in the film in the slightest, but a few days ago she announced that her next project will be the sequel to ‘Days of Thunder’, where she will share top billing with Tom Cruise himself. In the comments on her review, some skeptics point out and suggest that this could be a move not in favor of the film, but for her collaboration with the actor and to keep the optimism for him.
