Eddie Horniman is an army officer whose life undergoes a radical change when his father passes away. The death of the parent, in fact, brings about the surprising turn that Eddie inherits the family estate and the title of Duke of Halstead, ousting his older brother, Freddy, who is deeply in debt and entangled in shady dealings. However, the soldier also learns that beneath his lands lies a huge underground cannabis plantation, run by Bobby Glass’s cartel. Since the latter is behind bars, his daughter Susie now holds the reins of the operation and teams up with Eddie, who in the meantime is trying to pursue the ambitious plan of getting out of the criminal circle into which his family has fallen. Day by day, he becomes increasingly aware of how skilled he is at navigating this world of wrongdoers. The new boss, however, sees him as a problem, and sends him to Tulsa, Oklahoma, forcing him to leave New York and open up other markets there on their behalf. Gangs of London
Finn Wallace has ruled London for twenty years, having allied himself with the Albanian mafia, Kurdish cartels, Pakistani traffickers, and local criminals. One day, however, two petty drug dealers unaware of his identity kill him, creating a vacuum in the English criminal underworld. Finn’s son, Sean, decides as his first move to halt international trafficking to devote himself to finding his father’s killer, while Elliot Carter, a common thug, tries to carve out space for himself in the powerful family; later, the latter will reveal himself to be a undercover police officer, whose mission will not be easy to carry out. Gangs of London is a TV series consisting of 3 seasons and 25 episodes; you can stream it on Sky and Now, where currently only seasons two and three are available.
Peaky Blinders
The Peaky Blinders are members of a ruthless family-run gang, led by Thomas Shelby, known to everyone as Tommy. He is a war veteran, as sharp as he is traumatized by what he saw, experienced, and endured in the trenches, determined to solidify his power. Tommy starts with illegal betting, but sets his sights much higher: he wants full control of the criminal underworld and even of the political sphere. However, the realization of this ambitious project is hindered by Inspector Chester Campbell, sent by Winston Churchill himself to Birmingham to clean up the city. Peaky Blinders is a TV series—now a genuine cult—that began in 2013, and it comprises 6 seasons and 36 episodes in which the gang is loosely inspired by a real and similarly named gang that operated in Birmingham from 1880 through the 1920s. You can catch it on Netflix.
