For anyone who grew up watching Beverly Hills 90210, the sight of Donna and David sharing the screen again is always a pleasant surprise. More than 25 years after the teen saga ended and became a emblem of the ’90s, Tori Spelling and Brian Austin Green have teamed up once more on a very distinctive project that has already captured the attention of nostalgia seekers.
Tori Spelling and Brian Austin Green Star Together in an Innovative Series
The two actors, who portrayed Donna Martin and David Silver in the show, have just wrapped filming on a new thriller production for vertTV, a platform specializing in vertical series. If that name sounds unfamiliar, it’s because in Italy this format has not yet taken firm root. vertTV is an American streaming service dedicated to microseries, i.e., short-form fiction comprised of very brief episodes, designed to be watched on smartphones in a vertical format (9:16).
But there’s more. The reunion isn’t limited to Spelling and Green, as the project will also feature Carol Potter, the unforgettable actress who played Cindy Walsh, Brenda and Brandon’s mother. In Beverly Hills 90210, Donna and David were one of the audience’s favorite pairs. After a relationship marked by ups and downs, their characters reached marriage in the finale, delivering fans one of the most memorable and long-awaited moments. Moreover, the actors themselves later confirmed they had a real-life flirtation during the show’s years.
A Vertical Micro-Drama: An Unprecedented Challenge for the Beverly Hills 90210 Stars
For Tori Spelling and Brian Austin Green, this isn’t their first reunion after the series ended: in 2019 they had already reunited with some of their former colleagues in BH90210, the production that brought back the original cast in a romanced version of themselves. This time, however, it marks both of them’ s debut in the world of vertical microseries. At the moment, only a few details are known about the new production: it is known only that it will be a thriller, while the plot, the official title, and the release date remain top secret. We do know, however, that the screenplay and direction are entrusted to Theo Buckwald, while among the producers are Barry Barnholtz, Peter Sullivan, Ben Rosenthal, Brian Nolan and Jeffrey Schenck.
