Dune Part 3: AMC Theatres Unveils Two Additional Collectible Popcorn Buckets, One for Him & Her

AMC Theatres, the world’s largest cinema chain with hundreds of venues across the United States and Europe, has just unveiled, ahead of the upcoming release of Dune – Part 3, two new collectible popcorn buckets that will join the success already seen in 2024 with the release of Dune – Part 2. The latter, which spawned a plethora of memes and even appeared on Saturday Night Live in a sketch about a teenage couple’s romantic night, was shaped like a cylindrical black tin can bearing the film’s promotional imagery, and so far nothing unusual. The real standout was the lid, fashioned in gray plastic and featuring a raised, three-dimensional head of a Shai-Hulud, the gigantic sandworm of the planet Arrakis. The worm’s mouth was wide open and it boasted numerous small, flexible rubber teeth. To grab popcorn, one would slide a hand into the mouth, a detail that triggered wide laughter as well as the embarrassment of Zendaya and Timothée Chalamet. Nevertheless, the item sold out almost immediately.

For the third chapter of the franchise adapted from the monumental novel by Frank Herbert, AMC Theatres has outdone itself and rolled out not one but two upcoming memorabilia items. One is the Sandworm Thumper Bucket, which, as Variety explains, is inspired by the so‑called thumper—the device used by the Fremen to strike the desert sand to a steady rhythm and summon the giant worms. The other is the Double Sandworm Bucket (Double Sandworm). Compared to the 2004 model, it features two worm mouths and is thus designed for couples. At present, no price has been announced for either bucket, but the single-mouth bucket cost almost $25, so it’s likely its “brothers” will surpass that amount, given the rise in the cost of living.

But the surprises don’t end there. Also at AMC theatres, and in Europe at Odeon venues as well, you will be able to purchase a glowing Fremen-Atreides mug, a mug featuring the Space Guild Navigator, surprise keychains, and a plush Sandworm.

Dune – Part 3 concludes the saga directed by Denis Villeneuve and features, among others, Timothée Chalamet, , Robert Pattinson, Florence Pugh, Anya Taylor-Joy, Jason Momoa, Javier Bardem, Josh Brolin and Rebecca Ferguson. In the United States it opens on December 18, while in our country it arrives on December 16.
