Ella Rubin Watches Sterling Point 2: Here’s What I Would Like to Happen to Annie

Following the rapid success achieved this summer in streaming on Prime Video with only eight episodes, Sterling Point – The Island of Secrets quickly earned the green light for a second season. Born from an idea by Megan Park, the TV series tells the story of Annie Jacobson, an ambitious New Yorker who seems to have already mapped out her future but is forced to reassess when, upon the death of her paternal grandfather, she not only inherits an island in Canada, but probably has unsettled issues with her mother, who has long since passed away. Determined to uncover the truth, Annie packs her bags and flies to Canada, but she could never have imagined finding a sister waiting for her: Ramona. Summer is made of new discoveries, secrets hard to manage and new decisions to make, and, by the end of the first season, it is clear that Ramona and Annie are on two opposite tracks. But what to expect from the plot? Ella Rubin, the actress playing Annie, in a recent interview hinted at what she hopes for her character ahead of the new episodes.

Sterling Point 2, Ella Rubin reveals what she would like for Annie in the new episodes

We don’t know how long it will take to return to Sterling Point, but when it happens, Ella Rubin hopes to offer her Annie something more than what was addressed in the first season. After discovering that she inherited her paternal grandfather’s island along with her twin brother Connor, Annie arrived at the place, learning more about her mother, the difficult relationship she had with her father, and her sister Ramona, whom she believed to be Joe’s daughter and instead discovers to be the biological daughter of her adoptive father, Steven.

The summer of Annie was frenetic, dealing with lies and truths and even new romantic interests. But the second season, according to Ella Rubin, should also offer Annie more friendship. At the end of the first season we see Annie and Ramona make a decision: swap places. While Annie decides to stay in Sterling Point, Ramona accepts Steven’s offer and arrives in New York. The new season, therefore, could show how the two managed to adapt to a new context or perhaps include a time jump.

In this regard, Ella Rubin admitted to Collider: “I already know what will happen, but I shouldn’t say anything.” On her part, she could reveal what she hopes will happen for Annie: “I think the aspect of friendship is what intrigues me the most, because we’ve seen her involved in romantic relationships, in family relationships, in a kind of acquired family, and then in the development of a relationship with her sister. But I’m also curious to know what her housemates think of her new life.” According to Ella Rubin, her character could benefit from Oona and Sully. “I think of Oona. I know it’s probably what people want to hear, but it’s also the truth. A lot could happen, and there’s a wonderful friendship to discover and deepen. They didn’t interact much in the first season. I love working with Bo, a star, an incredible person, an incredible actress, but I also think they would have a really interesting dynamic on screen. We’ve had a taste of it, certainly, but I’d like to see more of it. And I think Annie could learn a lot by being with Sully. I think she’s a fantastic character and Nikko is amazing. I’d love to see Annie have fun with the two of them.”
