While The Walking Dead: Dead City has not yet been officially renewed for a fourth season, a worrying sign seems to come from the casting of Lauren Cohan, the lead, for one of the main roles in a new TV series. The 44-year-old actress, who has portrayed the tenacious Maggie Greene since she was 29, has joined the regular cast of Stillwater, another horror series adapted from a comic. She will join the protagonist Ben Hardy, alongside the new entries Mark O’Brien (The Copenhagen Test) and Mia Tomlinson (The Conjuring – The Final Rite).
Stillwater: The TV Series Plot and Lauren Cohan’s Role
Based on the Eisner-nominated graphic novel of the same name by Chip Zdarsky, adapted by Greg Berlanti (Riverdale, You) and Carly Wray (Watchmen, Mad Men) for Prime Video, Stillwater tells the story of Daniel West (Hardy), a former inmate who receives a mysterious letter promising answers about his past and a substantial inheritance in the town of Stillwater. Here, Daniel discovers a community where nothing ages, no one dies, and no one can escape.
The project reunites Cohan with Robert Kirkman, the author of the comic book on which The Walking Dead was based, involved as an executive producer. His character, Catherine ‘Cat’ Keegan, is a former high school queen whose provincial charm has sharpened into something more cutting, shaped by decades of old feuds and regrets. Deeply loyal to her husband, Ted (O’Brien), a deputy sheriff, Cat has spent years convinced that the actions taken to protect the town’s secret are justified.
Ted Keegan, a father, farmer and Army veteran, is described as a life-hardened man who has spent much of his life following orders and keeping secrets. As Stillwater’s deputy sheriff, he enforces the town’s strict rules—sometimes resorting to violence—while concealing a truth capable of destroying his own family. Tomlinson, meanwhile, will play Laura Quinn, Cat’s younger sister. A lively and stubborn single mother, she already had plenty to handle long before the residents of Stillwater suddenly stopped aging or dying. When her hometown changed overnight, Laura faced an impossible choice, destined to forever alter her future—and that of the entire community.
