The world of animated cartoons is facing a dark day today following the sudden loss of one of its most iconic modern voices. Eric Bauza has died unexpectedly, the voice actor who brought to life beloved characters such as Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, and many others associated with Looney Tunes. He was 46 years old.
The news arrived via his social media channels, where his family issued a brief statement about the situation. “Eric Bauza, Emmy-winning voice actor and the current voice of Looney Tunes’ emblematic characters, Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck, as well as dozens of other cherished animated characters, has died suddenly,” they say in the statement. “We will share more details soon.” There are no official details yet about the cause or the exact date of death.
Striking Voice
The career of Bauza has left a notable impact on the industry. He began working in television in the 2000s as the voice of multiple supporting characters and of Stimpy in ‘Ren and Stimpy’ and Foop in ‘The Fairly OddParents’. His big break came in 2011 with ‘The Looney Tunes Show’, when he joined the franchise as the voice of Marvin the Martian and became its voice actor from then on. By 2020 he had already voiced Bugs, Daffy, Tweety and many other classics in the characters’ series and films, such as ‘Looney Tunes. The Day the Earth Exploded’.
This year he had two scheduled premieres. The first, ‘Coyote vs. Acme’, has already premiered with his voice lending life to a dozen characters, one of his most celebrated achievements after years of anticipation to release the feature film. The other is the animated short ‘Daffy Season’, which will be shown with the release of ‘The Cat in the Hat’ in theaters on November 6, 2026.
Enduring Legacy
Bauza leaves behind a legacy of nearly a hundred characters whose existence he helped bring about over the past two decades. The world of animated cartoons in cinema and on television as well as his voice work in the realm of video games will be remembered and celebrated in the years to come. There now remains a vacancy in the heart of the Looney Tunes, and we do not know who or when someone will fill it.
