We are delighted to share the initiative of a crowdfunding campaign aimed at releasing five Fassbinder films in restored blue-ray editions. Rainer Werner Fassbinder, an indispensable figure of the 20th century, sadly left us prematurely, and his body of work should be brought to the attention of new generations who may not have known him on the big screen. The Start Up! crowdfunding campaign by CG Entertainment is launching to publish in a limited edition collector’s box the FASSBINDER collection, which gathers five masterpieces by the master of German cinema, made available for the first time in high-definition Blu-ray: Why Does Mr. R. Run Amok? in a restored version (Warum läuft Herr R. Amok?, 1970), In a Year with 13 Moons in a restored version (In einem Jahr mit 13 Monden, 1978), The Third Generation in a restored version (Die dritte Generation, 1979), Lola in a restored version (1981), and Veronika Voss (1982). The films will be accompanied by special contents and an in-depth booklet with critical analysis prepared by Lucia Pavan. The campaign is active until October 14, 2026 and only upon reaching 400 pre-orders on the CGtv platform at this address www.cgtv.it/film-dvd/collezione-rainer-werner-fassbinder/ will the box set go to print.

The collection will be composed as follows: 5 Blu-ray discs for the 5 films, plus special contents: The Man in the Shadow: Michael Fengler on Rainer Werner Fassbinder, a documentary/interview by Robert Fischer; Love and Despair: Werner Schroeter on In a Year with 13 Moons, curated by Robert Fischer; All of Fassbinder’s Women, a special feature curated by Alessandro Colizzi; Official Trailers for In a Year with 13 Moons and The Third Generation; Digipack box with exclusive slipcase artwork; the names of all crowdfunding supporters included in the acknowledgments inside the packaging; copy numbering; a collector’s booklet with a critical essay and insights into the films by Lucia Pavan.

Why Does Mr. R. Run Amok? An alienating and relentless examination of bourgeois conformity that tracks the gray routine of a desk worker up to a tragic breaking point. In a Year with 13 Moons One of the director’s most intimate and painful masterpieces, focused on the final days of Elvira, a trans woman seeking love and acceptance. The Third Generation A biting black comedy about political terrorism in Germany, lampooning the drift of extremist groups and the paranoia surrounding state control. Lola A refined, pop-inflected reimagining of the Blue Angel myth, set in postwar Germany during the economic miracle period amid corruption and real estate speculation.
