Favino in Marchionne Style with a Classic Crew-Neck Sweater

What you see above, in the official image captured by Riccardo Ghilardi, is Pierfrancesco Favino in the role of Sergio Marchionne, the manager famed for consistently eschewing jacket and tie and strolling through boards of directors, meetings, and shareholders’ assemblies in an unmistakable crew-neck sweater, for having taken the reins of Fiat when it lay on the brink of collapse and bringing it back to become competitive and a market leader, and also for having died at only 66 years old following complications after a right shoulder operation.
The photo is Falcon’s first official image, the film by Marco Bellocchio about the figure of Marchionne, and it was shot at the historic Mirafiori plant in Turin, in the building currently under renovation where filming is underway, thanks to the collaboration with STLA Europe.
This is the official plot of Falcon:

This is Fiat, the world’s most famous Italian automotive brand, which in 2004 stood on the verge of collapse when Sergio Marchionne (Favino) stepped in to save a dying empire. Ruthless and visionary, he ousts the corporate leadership, teaches John Elkann (Garrel), the young heir suddenly weighed down by the family legacy, the art of leadership, and wins over the American market by challenging General Motors and Chrysler, saving the company from bankruptcy. Marchionne became highly important and famous abroad, but the miracle came at a devastating price. By combining the tension of a financial thriller with a deep psychological insight, FALCON explores the heights of capitalism and the fatal, profound isolation of a tragic winner swallowed by the very machine he had saved.

In the Falcon cast, besides Pierfrancesco Favino, are Louis Garrel, Benedetta Cimatti, Barbara Ronchi and the participation of Valeria Bruni Tedeschi.
Written by Marco Bellocchio, with Ludovica Rampoldi, Andrea Di Stefano, Stefano Rulli and with the participation of Oliviero Del Papa, the film will be distributed in Italy by 01 Distribution. International sales are handled by Rai Cinema International Distribution. Among the principal collaborators already announced are production designer Andrea Castorina, costume designer Daria Calvelli and editor Francesca Calvelli, who have previously worked with Bellocchio on various projects such as The Traitor, Exterior Night and Kidnapped. Alongside Bellocchio’s longtime collaborators, he is for the first time joined by director of photography Matteo Cocco (The Weight, I Wanted to Hide).
