The Marvel Cinematic Universe continues to expand even on the small screen, and to tell more was the head of Marvel Television Brad Winderbaum on the occasion of the New York Comic Con 2026. During the panel dedicated to Marvel news, Winderbaum updated fans on what to expect soon in streaming on Disney+, highlighting the return of a proven TV series that will sadly bow out with its third season, three new animated spin-offs, and a new live-action TV series presented as a spy thriller. Ready to discover all the upcoming Marvel Universe updates on Disney+?
Daredevil: Rebirth 3: The Reunion of the Defenders Is Served
The third season of Daredevil: Rebirth had been announced as the final one not long ago and, despite the unhappy reception from fans devoted to the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen, it carried with it a modest consolation reaffirmed also at the New York Comic-Con. The last cycle of episodes will offer a long-awaited reunion that will see Matt Murdock back with the other Defenders Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist. Finn Jones, Krysten Ritter and Charlie Cox attended the Marvel panel (apparently Mike Colter had other commitments and could not be present), signaling a more prominent role for these characters.
At New York Comic-Con, a first teaser for the third season was shown, not yet shared online, in which Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Danny Rand appear, each holding a badge. “Well, isn’t anyone going to say it? There should be four badges,” Jessica says, referring to the big absence Matt Murdock, who, as we know, ended up in prison at the end of season two after revealing his dual identity as Daredevil. In the teaser, Murdock also appears behind bars, who at one point rips off the orange prisoner uniform to blindfold his eyes and beat some inmates. Other characters glimpsed in the teaser include Fisk, crying out somewhere at the top of his lungs, and Poindexter in his new on-set costume.
During the event, the cancellation of the TV series emerged, greeted by boos from the audience and Charlie Cox addressed the topic: “I imagine the SaveDaredevil campaign is gearing up for a second round. You surely don’t want to unleash the fury of those who support Daredevil!” the actor joked, referring to the fans’ support after the initial cancellation.

Zodiac, the MCU-branded espionage thriller
Another noteworthy announcement concerns a new TV series arriving on Disney+ in 2028. It is titled Zodiac and is an espionage thriller set within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with filming set to begin next spring in London. The cast has not yet been chosen and casting will begin within a few weeks, but in the meantime Marvel Studios released the Zodiac logo which, according to Winderbaum, hides clues for comic-book fans that would bring SHIELD into play. In the comics, Zodiac is a spy organization rivaling SHIELD led by Scorpio, Nick Fury’s younger brother. Samuel L. Jackson, for his part, recently hinted that he will not be in Avengers: Doomsday, but will appear in other projects: could he make a cameo in Zodiac after Avengers: Secret Wars, due out in December 2027?
In any case, this is the first live-action title announced by Marvel Studios after the cancellation of Daredevil: Rebirth, which will stop at the third season, and Wonder Man, initially renewed for a second season but then halted. There are rumors that the Studios have three to five TV projects in development but not yet announced and Zodiac was rumored to be among these.

VisionQuest, X‑Men ’97, and Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man: The Certainties
Other projects, already confirmed for some time, include VisionQuest, the third chapter of the Wanda Trilogy, which will debut on Disney+ on October 14, 2026. Paul Bettany returns once again as Vision, but contending with the aftermath of WandaVision.
Another date long confirmed is Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man: Season 2, slated to stream on January 13, 2027. Finally the audience is also awaiting the third season of X‑Men ’97, the highly acclaimed animated series that would have confirmed Deadpool’s presence right at the New York Comic-Con, just as early images teased a possible Rogue and Gambit marriage.
