Furious: TV Series Starring Emmy Rossum Renewed for Season 2

Nothing to be furious about here: Hulu has renewed Furious for a second season, its new crime thriller starring Emmy Rossum, inspired by the 1987 film The Black Widow. The announcement came a few days before the finale of the inaugural cycle, expected in Italy to stream on Disney+ next Monday.

Furious: What is the TV series with Emmy Rossum about?

Created by Emmy-nominated Elizabeth Meriwether, known for crafting successful series such as New Girl, The Dropout, and Dying for Sex, Furious follows Emmy Rossum in the role of Alice Black, an FBI agent and former detective with the New York Police Department. Alice pursues Catherine Grace (Lola Petticrew), a young woman who appears cool and methodical while killing several men. But Catherine is no ordinary serial killer. Behind the murders lies a history of trauma and violence: her victims are men connected—directly or indirectly—to the traumatic experiences she has endured. Catherine regards herself as a kind of avenger, convinced she is enacting what institutions have failed to do.

Alice, initially determined simply to capture her, begins to dig into Catherine’s past. The more she uncovers, the more personal and morally complex the investigation becomes. The two women end up reflecting one another: one seeks justice through the law, the other through vengeance. The series thus ends up forcing the viewer to confront the question: to what extent can vengeance be considered justice? The rest of the cast includes Scoot McNairy (Narcos: Mexico), Quincy Tyler Bernstine (Power Book II: Ghost) and Jake Lacy (The White Lotus).
