North of the Wall, Jon Snow would be living his life after what happened at the end of the eighth and final season of Game of Thrones, but what do we know about his fate? At first there were whispers of a possible return of the King in the North with a sequel project that would explore his life after Daenerys, but it never took shape. In recent years, HBO has preferred to focus on prequel stories from House of the Dragon to A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, but audiences still hope for sequel stories starring the Stark family, from Arya and Sansa to Jon Snow. Kit Harington, who played the latter, has once again revisited the topic, throwing his support behind his character.
Game of Thrones: Kit Harington Returns to the Jon Snow Sequel, “I Feel More at Home in That World”
All hope is not lost, according to Kit Harington. In a recent interview during an episode of the podcast Happy Sad Confused, the actor admitted that he is certain there exists somewhere a version of the Jon Snow sequel that could work. He noted that today he is much more at ease with that character than when the project was shelved some time ago: “We developed it for about two years. I still believe there’s a world where something like this could work. I wouldn’t have even tackled this project if I hadn’t been convinced. But at the start I was very resolute, just as HBO and George R.R. Martin were, on this point: ‘If we can’t find the right thing, we won’t do it. It’s much better not to do it.’ After thinking about it for a while, and in a sense it was a decision of mine, I said: ‘This isn’t the right story’.”
Since then he has spent a substantial amount of time away from Jon Snow, taking on new projects in the world of entertainment, a distance that helped him reconnect with the world of Game of Thrones: “Now that I’ve done many other things, I feel again more at ease with that character and with that world and with the place they occupy in my life.” It is also true that quite recently the actor was once again chosen by HBO for another major franchise: he will portray Gilderoy Lockhart in the second season of Harry Potter, the television adaptation of J.K. Rowling’s popular book saga that had previously been adapted into a film franchise. But as for Jon Snow, we do not know what will become of him in the Game of Thrones universe: will he have the opportunity to tell another chapter of his story after what happened over eight seasons? Kit Harington appears more hopeful than ever.
