Giorgio Gherarducci, Marco Santin and Walter Veltroni Discuss the Absurd History of Gialappa’s Band

If you were kids or young in the 1990s, or even if you’re the child of a boomer, it’s almost impossible that you grew up without ever watching (or hearing about) an episode of Mai dire gol, Mai dire Banzai or Mai dire tv (and all the later Mai dire programs, including the Grande Fratello), that you didn’t laugh at the various “Vai col liscio,” with the linguistic slips of players and coaches, with the entertaining trash of private televisions of the era and, above all, with those wonderful actors who, with the Gialappa’s Band, took their first steps on television, from Fabio De Luigi to Paola Cortellesi, Aldo Giovanni e Giacomo, Fabio De Luigi and a flood of others, in an impressive list of characters today entered into the collective imagination. For all those who never missed an episode, but also for all those who discovered them in fragments on the web or in the new Gialappa Show, arrives al cinema il 22 ottobre the documentary by Walter Veltroni L’assurda storia della Gialappa’s Band, in which not only Giorgio Gherarducci and Marco Santin reunite with the retired signor Carlo (Taranto), but actors today celebrated, including Teo Teocoli, who was there when it all began, return today to reflect and recount those times of madness, intelligence and great fun, in a TV that has never been so free from conditioning and self-censorship.
