It ends on a comedic note, yet with reflections that centuries ago were as valid as today on the people and their relationship with power. The Venice Film Festival will soon announce the jury’s choices, the palmares that will remain in the annals, and, often, will shape fortunes—both emotional and financial—and launch careers. Meanwhile, the new film by Giovanni Veronesi, Dio ride, obviously out of competition, will be presented after the Golden Lion in the Grand Hall.
Set in the heart of the seventeenth century and freely inspired by true events, the story centers on freedom and the relationship between man and power through the life of a friar who, by the strength of his humanity, changes the lives of the people he meets. A film written and directed by Giovanni Veronesi. In the film Pierfrancesco Favino plays Friar Leopoldo and Silvio Orlando as Cardinal Maculani, in the cast also Alma Noce, Francesco Gheghi, Maurizio Lombardi, Paolo Rossi and Carlo Cecchi in the role of Pope Innocenzo X. The film will be released in theaters on October 29, distributed by PiperFilm.
