Godzilla Minus Zero: A Catastrophe Looms Over Humanity in the New Official Trailer

An unprecedented catastrophe looms over humanity: in the new trailer for Godzilla Minus Zero, now online worldwide, fresh apocalyptic imagery from the eagerly awaited new chapter, written and directed by Takashi Yamazaki (who also handles the visual effects), is unveiled. Starring Ryunosuke Kamiki and Minami Hamabe, once again in the roles of Koichi and Noriko, the film will hit theaters and IMAX® from November 12, distributed by Plaion Pictures as part of the strategic partnership with TOHO Global.

One month before the release, the new trailer guides us into the film’s darkest core, showing a world where every spark of hope gradually vanishes. The unsettling words of Dr. Ogata (Jun Kunimura) set off an increasingly tight chain of chaos and terror: a woman trapped inside a house suspended in mid-air, explosions, debris raining from the sky, and Godzilla’s atomic ray cutting through a landscape that has spiraled out of control. Koichi, Noriko, and the other leads are pushed to the limit, forced to flee from a force against which any chance of resistance seems doomed to crumble.

Godzilla Minus Zero: the official plot of the film

It is 1949, two years after the previous attack: Japan is still trying to pick itself up from the wounds of war and the devastation left by Godzilla, while Koichi, Noriko, and young Akiko strive to defend the fragile normality they have just regained. But the monster king’s return drags them into a new abyss of despair, reopening wounds never truly healed. Godzilla returns to embody an unstoppable force of destruction, before which humanity discovers its own fragility; and this time even the King of Monsters seems destined to confront something never faced before, paving the way for a threat of even more devastating proportions.

Before arriving in Italian cinemas on November 12 (both in Italian-dubbed version and in the original language with subtitles), Godzilla Minus Zero will be preceded by the national preview at Lucca Comics & Games 2026, where the film will be presented on Saturday, October 31.
