After skipping the Summer Game Fest, Rockstar Games fans didn’t know where Grand Theft Auto VI might appear. The most anticipated video game of 2026, if not of the entire ninth generation of consoles, has spent some time without showing a new trailer to whet our appetite for what’s coming at the end of the year. We’re also missing even a glimpse of its gameplay, which given all the expectations the title has never shown in video.
It seems this is about to change this month, in the least expected way. It has been Netflix that announced they hold the exclusive for unveiling the next look at the game. The streaming platform will be the first to reveal the major novelties of the new GTA entry on the upcoming Thursday, August 27, 2026. And as of now, at 21:00, Spanish mainland time.
Video Games and Netflix
It must be admitted that this is a move we did not expect from Take-Two Interactive. Normally major previews of anticipated video games are relegated to their own streaming events, or at least a video uploaded on social networks. The closest we’ve come to seeing is promotions in ‘Fortnite’ for movies and concerts. There’s always a first time to change the game, and for Netflix to claim exclusivity for such an occasion is noteworthy.
Perhaps it answers Netflix’s aim to reassert itself in the video game industry. The subscription already includes a mobile game catalog with standout titles, such as the trilogy of ‘Grand Theft Auto III’, ‘Vice City’ and ‘San Andreas’. By accessing the platform, perhaps they expect gamers to discover the merits of their service and thus attract a new base of players.

A Clear November
Whether to attract players or for any other purpose, having an exclusive tease for Grand Theft Auto VI is explosive news. This is the game that has generated so much interest that it has pushed back the vast majority of new releases to dates far from the project’s launch, which will hit shelves on this November 19. All developers have moved their releases to September, October, and even 2027 so as not to compete with Rockstar Games.
Except for ‘Barbie Rewind’. That is, for now, the only title that dares to stand up against the street gang violence of ‘GTA’. It’s the best that Barbie will have, now that its sequel in cinemas has been halted.
