Grey’s Anatomy Season 23: James Wolk Will Cause Trouble, This New Character Is One to Watch

The 23rd season of Grey’s Anatomy shakes up the game, and after the exit of Owen and Teddy, it prepares to introduce new potential conflicts. Among the most intriguing additions is the arrival of James Wolk, an actor known for Mad Men, Watchmen, and Ordinary Joe (and who we will also soon see in The Boys’ prequel series, Vought Rising). Wolk, as Deadline hints, will have a recurring role in the medical drama: here’s who he will play and why this character is certainly one to watch.

Grey’s Anatomy 23: Who will play James Wolk?

Wolk will portray Seth Norton, a character who is set to appear in at least four episodes of the new season. His presence could carry considerable weight in the Grey Sloan Memorial storyline, especially given the rivalry with the private healthcare sector that had already surfaced in the previous season. Seth Norton, according to Deadline, is described as a surgeon who became an entrepreneur—handsome and arrogant, with a profit-driven mindset. Norton is the owner of Olympic Regent Health, a luxury medical center where patients pay out of pocket to receive top-tier care and services. A model that is markedly different from Grey Sloan Memorial’s approach. This very contrast could render Norton a particularly uncomfortable figure for the show’s leads. Season 23 is expected to continue developing the clash between the hospital and high-end private facilities.

Dr. Seth Norton will be someone’s love interest?

For the moment, it has not been revealed which characters will interact most with Seth Norton. However, his role suggests that his arrival could further alter the work dynamics within the series and, who knows, even the romantic ones. The introduction of Wolk comes at a time of significant changes for Grey’s Anatomy. The finale of season 22 marked the exit of Kevin McKidd, who played Dr. Owen Hunt, and Kim Raver, who portrayed Dr. Teddy Altman. Despite these departures, the new season will rely on numerous faces already familiar to the audience. Ellen Pompeo will return as Meredith Grey, albeit with limited presence and in a recurring capacity. The cast also includes confirmed appearances by Chandra Wilson, James Pickens Jr., Camilla Luddington, Caterina Scorsone, Jason George, Chris Carmack, Anthony Hill, Alexis Floyd, Adelaide Kane, Niko Terho, and Trevor Jackson.

What will happen in Grey’s Anatomy Season 23: The previews

The new season is expected to pick up from some of the storylines left open at the end of season 22. One of the most important concerns Meredith and Nick: after the dramatic bridge collapse, the two got engaged, and their relationship could become one of the main narrative threads of season 23, with the possibility of reaching even a wedding. There are also other plots yet to be developed. Among these, Link’s reliance on painkillers, which could have increasingly serious consequences, and the relationship between Toni and Amelia (Caterina Scorsone and Jen Landon).

The 23rd season of Grey’s Anatomy will debut in the United States on ABC on October 15, while in Italy it is expected soon on streaming via Disney+.
