How Should Sex and the City End? Kristin Davis Reveals

Sex and the City has once again sparked conversations with a revival titled And Just Like That, which wrapped up its run after a third season. Yet, just as often happens with Carrie Bradshaw, Kristin Davis couldn’t help but wonder what might become of her Charlotte if she were afforded the chance to return for another season. The actress actually has even a one-on-one idea in mind with Evan Handler, who in Sex and the City and in And Just Like That played her husband Harry.

Sex and the City and And Just Like That, Kristin Davis proposes one final chapter for Carrie and her friends

If And Just Like That were to hypothetically come back for a fourth season, what story could it tell this time? Kristin Davis recently tackled the question. During her episode of the podcast Are You a Charlotte?, she chatted with Evan Handler, longtime actor who portrayed Harry Goldenblatt, Charlotte’s love interest and husband. Both actors wondered what might become of their relationship, and Davis confessed that, from her point of view, the revival would still have one last chapter to address: “Look, we don’t know what will happen, right? I find it hard to believe we won’t do something else, because that’s how I always see it. It’s always that way for me. But also because it’s fun to think about what we could do.”

Reflecting on the couple’s lifestyle, Kristin Davis and Evan Handler discussed the narrative possibility of exploring a potential financial hardship for the pair. At the same time, the actress emphasized how that glamorous New York lifestyle is an aspirational element that we also see in other TV series, such as The Five-Star Weekend, starring Jennifer Garner. “They’re filming in Nantucket, and it’s incredibly beautiful, and her house is incredibly beautiful. And I wondered: would it work without that element as well?” mused the actress who plays Charlotte.

In any case, Davis shared that she does have an idea of “what would be nice to tell in a final chapter,” but she did not want to commit to it, merely referring to the film Book Club – The Next Chapter, which features the four friends played by Diane Keaton, Jane Fonda, Candice Bergen and Mary Steenburgen as they treat themselves to a trip together to Italy. “Wouldn’t that be fun? We could also take a trip to Italy. Wouldn’t that be fantastic?” Indeed, Sex and the City has already spawned two film sequels that followed Carrie, Charlotte, Miranda, and Samantha around the globe. In the first film, released in 2008, they set out with Carrie on a honeymoon that goes awry in Mexico, while in the second film they head to Abu Dhabi. Could a third film sequel be in the cards, this time set in Italy?
