Jensen Ackles has moved forward with his career. After Supernatural, which lasted 15 seasons from 2005 to 2020, he acted in other TV series such as Big Sky, Tracker and Countdown, and he was brought back by Eric Kripke to join the cast of The Boys portraying Soldier Boy, a character who appeared in the spin-off Gen V and is set to return in 2027 as the lead of the prequel Vought Rising. Despite the many projects on his schedule, the actor still holds Supernatural close to his heart and has admitted to having an idea for a possible revival.
Supernatural, Jensen Ackles Suggests a Possible Revival Idea
Spanning 15 seasons, Supernatural kept audiences enthralled for a long time with the numerous misadventures of the brothers Dean and Sam Winchester as they faced demonic threats. And, despite the long run on screen, fans continue to vocally push for the return of the Winchesters. Jensen Ackles, for his part, wouldn’t rule anything out and has even admitted to having an idea for a potential revival.
In the past, Jared Padalecki and Misha Collins have also expressed their willingness to return as Dean and Castiel, and now Jensen Ackles has contemplated the plot to propose for a new season of Supernatural. Six years have passed since the fantasy series concluded, and, as a guest at the Creator Charlotte 2026 convention, the actor shared his idea for a revival: “I would have loved Jack to walk through the front door, approach Sam and Dean and simply say: ‘I must send you back.’” That would have left the door open to something in the future.
That isn’t what happened in the finale, but that wouldn’t preclude the production from shooting a new scene with the character Alexander Calvert as Jack arriving during the moment of Dean and Sam on the bridge. In the final episode of Supernatural— and a note for those who have not yet seen it — it happens that Dean dies during one of the usual Winchester hunting routines. After his disappearance, Sam lived on for a long time and, once older, joined his brother, finding him on that bridge in Heaven alongside his famous Impala. A deeply moving reunion as the ending of a long TV series and which, according to Jensen Ackles, could be reworked by involving Jack with new footage preparing an alternate future for Supernatural.
