An event from a few years ago that shook the country, becoming a catalyst for mobilization against a society unable to count responsibly, especially men, with femicide in a patriarchal culture. The murder of Giulia Cecchettin, but above all her story and vitality, is told in If Tomorrow I Don’t Return, a film adapted from the book Cara Giulia (published by Rizzoli), written by her father, Gino Cecchettin, together with the writer Marco Franzoso. A film presented at the Rome Film Festival and Alice in the City that seeks to go beyond the chronicle, restoring the value of a testimony that has managed to spark a public confrontation on gender-based violence, on education and on collective responsibility.
Directed by Paola Randi, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Lisa Nur Sultan, the film stars Filippo Timi, Tecla Bossi, Sabrina Martina, Tommaso Allione, Linda Caridi and Elisabetta De Palo. If Tomorrow I Don’t Return, produced by Notorious Pictures in collaboration with Mediaset, Sky Cinema and the Giulia Cecchettin Foundation, will hit theaters on Thursday, November 5, distributed by Notorious Pictures.
We spoke with the director, Paola Randi, and the lead actor, Filippo Timi.
