Insidious: Out of the Beyond Crashes Spain’s Box Office as Spider-Man: Brand New Day and The Odyssey Lead

After four weeks in which ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ and ‘The Odyssey’ have completely dominated the Spanish box office, a third member joined the party this week. We are talking about the release of ‘Insidious: Out of the Beyond’, which managed to sneak into second place between the two films, with box office figures very similar for all three.

That said, the leadership again went to ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’, which adds another No. 1 in the Spanish box office, this time with 1,422,343 euros. With these numbers, Tom Holland’s film has accumulated 34.4 million euros in revenue in our country, and a total of 4,632,183 spectators who have gone to cinemas to see Marvel’s latest.

We take advantage of midweek to update the film’s totals, which worldwide have now reached 2,229,461,878 dollars. With these data, ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ is the sixth-highest grossing film in history, and it is only about 35 million dollars away from surpassing the legendary ‘Titanic’, something it will surely achieve this weekend. Of course, these numbers are not inflation-adjusted.

The second place has been, as we noted for ‘Insidious: Out of the Beyond’, a Sony duo that repeats what has already been seen in the United States, although the horror film’s performance has been considerably better here than across the Atlantic. 1,364,963 euros in take for the film, despite having a few fewer screens than its rivals in the ranking.

The performance of ‘The Odyssey’ continues to be noteworthy in its sixth week at the box office. It managed 1.299 million euros, staying in a very tight third place behind the top two. Not surprisingly, Christopher Nolan’s film only falls 24% compared to last week, a relatively soft drop for this type of production. ‘The Odyssey’ has now grossed a little over 33 million euros in our country.

Strong numbers for ‘The Mutiny’ and the re-release of ‘The Fast and the Furious’

A considerable jump separates the top three from the rest of the weekend’s best performers. In fourth place, ‘The End of Oak Street’ confirms its flop with a 50% drop in its second week, taking in only 485,000 euros for a total of 2,281,082 euros in our country.

The fifth spot this week goes to another new release, ‘The Mutiny’, which arrived on our screens at the same time as in the United States. Jason Statham’s film has raked in 394,598 euros on its debut, respectable figures for a film of its kind.

Impressive, indeed, are the 274,897 euros achieved by the re-release of the 2001 film ‘The Fast and the Furious (A todo gas)’ to celebrate its 25th anniversary. Despite being available in only 178 theaters (the smallest distribution among the top 10), it manages to stand out in sixth place.

The seventh position on the chart goes to ‘Paw Patrol: Dino Rescue’, which adds another 237,431 euros and now reaches 296,709 euros grossed in our country. ‘Minions & Monsters’ is doing better, as it has already spent eight weeks in the top 10 of the box office and adds 180,761 euros for a total of 13.3 million euros.

And after two animated films, the ranking closes with two live-action films derived from animation. The French ‘Marsupilami’ manages to stay in the ranking with a solid 113,677 in its second week, and a cumulative total close to 600,000 euros. Finally, ‘Moana’ adds 109,866 more for a total of 8.2 million euros.
