Here we present the official trailer for Almost Real, the new comedy directed by Fausto Brizzi that is set to arrive in cinemas on October 1 and will be distributed by Medusa Film. It is not merely a love story, but also a narrative that confronts a topical theme like artificial intelligence, used as a lens to observe human desires, fragility, and contradictions in the era of social networks. And, moreover, to reflect on the boundary between what is virtual and what is real, since Vera, the titular character, is an AI creation who will become a star as if she were a real person.
Here is the official plot synopsis of the film:
Diego is an aspiring actor who, between failed auditions and minor background roles, struggles to find his place in the world. When his personal life falls into crisis, he is forced to reinvent himself. The encounter with the world of influencers and new technologies offers an unexpected opportunity: thanks to his IT skills and artificial intelligence, he creates Vera, a virtual influencer who is beautiful, fascinating, and apparently perfect. Through an original blend that unites irony, sensuality, and famous goals scored by the Italian national team, Vera rapidly gains millions of followers, turning into a media phenomenon. But as the line between real and virtual becomes increasingly thin, Diego must confront the consequences of his choices and the desire to rediscover what truly matters.
Written by Brizzi in collaboration with Gianluca Belardi, Roberto Lipari, Herbert Simone Paragnani, and Ignazio Rosato, and produced by Medusa Film S.p.A. and Tramp LTD srl in association with Sony Pictures International Productions, Almost Real features Taylor Mega in the role of its virtual lead, while Diego is portrayed by Frank Matano. Completing the cast are Rocío Muñoz Morales, Laura Chiatti, Andrea Perroni, Sergio Friscia, Francesco Sole, and Federica Cifola. Here is the trailer and the poster:
