From November 10 to 14, Berlin will host the thirteenth edition of the Italian Film Festival Berlin, taking place at Kino in der Kulturbrauerei in the Prenzlauer Berg district and presenting eight Italian titles in the German capital. The screenings will be accompanied by conversations with the directors and/or the protagonists. To inaugurate the film festival, on November 10 (at 7:45 PM) The Cities of the Plain by Francesco Sossai, winner of the David di Donatello for Best Film, will be shown. Representing the event will be actor Sergio Romano. On November 11 (at 7:45 PM) it will be the turn of Keep Me in Mind by Alberto Palmiero, presented by the director and the star, while on November 12 (at 7:45 PM) Pif and Michele Astori will accompany the German premiere of God Forgives Everyone. Also on the program are My Joy by Margherita Spampinato (on the 12th at 5:30 PM), The Common Good by Rocco Papaleo (on the 13th at 5:30 PM), Spring by Damiano Michieletto (on the 13th at 7:45 PM), Almost Grace by Peter Marcias (on the 14th at 3:30 PM) and Buen Camino by Gennaro Nunziante (on the 14th at 7:45 PM). All screenings will be in the original language with English subtitles.
Also this year, during the Italian Film Festival Berlin, audiences will be called to award—the votes cast at the end of the screenings—the Italian Screens Audience Award. Notably, there is also space dedicated to students thanks to a section promoted through a collaboration between the Office of Schools of the Italian Embassy with the support of MAECI, which will involve primary and secondary schools across the city of Berlin. The program includes two screenings: La bicicletta di Bartali (Bartali’s Bicycle) by Enrico Paolantonio (Thursday, November 12, at 9:30 AM) and L’ultima volta che siamo stati bambini by Claudio Bisio, with entry reserved for students from the involved schools. The festival’s opening will also be preceded by the Berlin leg of Flamingo, a show by Luca Ravenna promoted by BIS Berlin, scheduled for Saturday, November 7, at the Colosseum.
