The Dog Stars – The Stars After the End, which will arrive in Italian cinemas on August 26 (and ticket pre-sales are already underway), is the 30th film directed over fifty years of a career by one of the recognized masters of contemporary cinema, the English Ridley Scott. A master, indeed, an “eroe cinematografico,” as suggested in the video featurette we present below, in which discussing Scott’s vision are his two leading actors: Jacob Elordi and Josh Brolin, who in the film adapted from Peter Heller‘s bestseller (recently published in Italy by Bompiani under the title “Le stelle del cane”), are two survivors of a global catastrophe living in solitude; at least until they stumble upon a mysterious radio signal.
In the cast of The Dog Stars – The Stars After the End are also Margaret Qualley, Allison Janney, Benedict Wong and Guy Pearce. The film was written by Mark L. Smith, based on Heller’s novel. Below, plot and official Italian trailer.
The film tells the story of Hig (Jacob Elordi), a young pilot who, together with Bangley (Josh Brolin), a survival-savvy military man, has built an efficient yet isolated dwelling in a brutal post-apocalyptic world, until a mysterious radio transmission pushes Hig to venture into the unknown in search of the hope and humanity in which he still believes.
