Javier Bardem and Penélope Cruz in the Bunker: First Teaser Trailer for the Film

It world premiered in competition at the Venice Film Festival, and it will debut in select U.S. cinemas in December before a wider release planned for January, because it is clear that Bunker is banking on the awards season. After all, the film’s director, Florian Zeller, is the one who brought The Father to win two Oscars, and it features as leads a pair of actors of enormous stature, Penelope Cruz and Javier Bardem.
In Bunker the two are (as in real life) husband and wife. Very, very wealthy. He, Miguel, is a celebrated architect; she, Sofia, holds a senior managerial role at a publishing house. Their balances, which are already a bit precarious at times, shatter when they have to deal with a strange and threatening neighbor (played by Stephen Graham), decidedly less well-off than they are, and when a billionaire in the Musk- or Zuckerberg-like mold, who bears the face of Paul Dano, asks Miguel to design for him in his Hawaii villa a sophisticated bunker that should guarantee his survival in what he believes to be a probable and imminent apocalypse.
In our country, Bunker will be released by Notorious Pictures, which has not yet officially announced an official release date. What you see below is the film’s teaser trailer just released.
