The American actor RJ Mitte, known for his role as Walter Jr., the son of Walter White in the series Breaking Bad, has died at the age of 34.
“It is with profound sadness that we announce the tragic passing of RJ Mitte,” his agent Sean Reilly stated in a note that does not specify the cause of death.
Just like his character in the cult series, RJ also suffered from cerebral palsy, a condition that causes a permanent motor disorder due to early brain injury, occurring before birth or during childhood. The form he had, however, was less severe than that of the character he portrayed on screen.
The actor thus used his rising fame to defend the rights of people with disabilities. He was indeed an ambassador for the United Cerebral Palsy and Shriners Children’s organizations and chaired his own charitable foundation, the Mitte Foundation, which supported various philanthropic initiatives and worked to combat stereotypes about people with disabilities.
