Je So’ Pazzo Tops the Italian Weekend Box Office as Pino Daniele’s Story Becomes a Box-Office Smash

Released during the Rome Film Festival, still ongoing, Je So’ Pazzo, the Italian response to overseas musical biopics, directed by Nicola Prosatore and featuring Massimiliano Caiazzo as Pino Daniele, makes a debut at the Italian weekend box office: Cinetel data report 1,533,000 euros earned in four days, with an average of 3,900 euros per screen across 390 copies in circulation, far below what a cross‑ocean blockbuster tends to reach. It is clear that the campaign has been met with solid enthusiasm: we will monitor the film’s financial trajectory, but it’s worth noting that audiences are very receptive to musical celebrations on the big screen, just as the recent Michael demonstrated.

Slipping from first to second place is the horror Mammina, in which Jessica Chastain serves as a second unsettling maternal presence for a girl: her sweetly grotesque smile has drawn in another 853,000 euros, bringing our total to 3,291,000. Worldwide, the tally stands at 78,782,440 dollars (Box Office Mojo), while the budget, according to Variety and Deadline, did not exceed 20 million. A further solid move by Blumhouse and Universal Pictures.
Staying in third place is a thriller with horror undertones as well: L’estranea by Paolo Strippoli, featuring Jasmine Trinca as the mother of a seemingly perfect family, held together by a shocking pact with a dark presence (Valeria Bruni Tedeschi). The overall result amounts to 1,917,600 euros (813,700 over the weekend). It should be remembered that the film has been selected to represent Italy at the 2027 Oscars.
A discreet debut in fourth place for Primetime with Robert Pattinson, which brings to the screen the true story of journalist Chris Hansen, who twenty years ago exposed pedophiles on TV. The Lance Oppenheim feature starts in Italy with 450,600 euros, with a worldwide gross so far of just under 50 million dollars. A favorable showing for a production budgeted at 14,500,000 dollars, according to Fastlane NextGen.
A quiet debut in fifth place for Street Fighter by Kitao Sakurai with Noah Centineo, another attempt to adapt the popular fighting video game franchise: here in Italy it collects 387,250 euros, worldwide it opened with 51,100,000 dollars, largely thanks to American enthusiasm with a first weekend over 30 million. Deadline reports a budget around eighty million, so it remains early to determine whether the Legendary / Paramount film will break even.
